Handwoven Grass

This collection features ethical and sustainable homeware, hats and bags.  Female-led artisan enterprises in Tanzania and Ecuador produce all items with handwoven grass. They use natural and upcycled materials, following traditional weaving techniques passed down from generation to generation for hundreds of years.

Vikapu Bomba, meaning Fantastic Baskets in Swahili, is a cooperative of 150 artisan rural women determined to use their skills to improve their families livelihoods in areas stricken by poverty. They produce intricate, handwoven bags and baskets made with Milulu grass in the Highlands of Southern Tanzania.

WomenCraft is a Fair Trade certified social enterprise producing homeware in the northeast of Tanzania. Their mission is to increase economic opportunity in the post-conflict, tri-border area of Rwanda, Burundi and Tanzania. Through WomenCraft, over 600 artisans advance themselves.

Maki is a Fair Trade certified Ecuadorian Social enterprise engaging female indigenous artisans in producing ethical hats handcrafted with sustainably sourced and 100% natural toquilla straws.
